The Technology Business Analyst will drive the constant compatibility between business processes and core system configurations & functionalities, ensuring clear translation of business end user requirements (including process changes) into fit-for-purpose technology performance for medical affairs.
This remit extends across the end-to-end technology product lifecycle from new system development to scoping requirements for systems enhancements, upgrades and appropriate prioritization with business, DDIT and 3rd party partners.
Through analytical thinking and data fluency, this role will be responsible for reporting on technology platforms and, wherever required, creating custom dashboards (i.e., Power BI etc.) that enable business stakeholders with actionable insights. This would extend to analytics on access & usage for targeted training, change management and heightened adoption, as well as insights into data quality associated with the assigned domain.
Critical to success will be to ensure that the assigned business domain, Global Medical Affairs (GMA) is optimally supported in the identification, evaluation, implementation, and lifecycle maintenance of technology. Strong stakeholder management will be vital, particularly acting as the liaison between business process owners, end users and application/ system teams. Clear communication skills and design thinking experience will be indispensable to effectiveness in role.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for constant compatibility between business processes and core system configurations & functionalities, ensuring clear translation of business end user requirements (including process changes) into fit-for-purpose technology performance for medical affairs.   
  • Enable reporting on technology platforms and create custom dashboards (i.e., Power BI etc.) that enable business stakeholders with actionable insights. 
  • Produce analytics on access & usage for targeted training, change management and heightened adoption, as well as insights into data governance associated with the assigned domain.
  • Support the creation of training materials and other change management activities.
  • Support the data strategy across GMA in alignment with business priorities and broader Novartis data strategy, including data quality and governance.
  • Partner on data driven analytics and scorecards to enable business insights, customer and user experience, governance, and compliance.  
  • Deliver on user experience and satisfaction: drive user-centricity in our approach to developing solutions by embracing design thinking methodologies and collaborating with User Experience experts.
  • Accountable for audit & inspection readiness for technology products within GMA .

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences required; advanced degree in scientific or business preferred (or relevant business experience
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience (e.g., health care or technology sector; business transformation; new technologies; delivery excellence; product management) 
  • Demonstrable understanding of drug development – early development, clinical trials, safety, data management, etc.  
  • Proficiency with analytical and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik Sense etc.) and demonstrable ability to derive critical insights from data and convey actionable intelligence to business stakeholders 
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills demonstrating the Novartis values for collaboration, quality and integrity; ability to bridge between scientific and business experts. 
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to high-impact technology and innovation road maps 
  • Proven track record in contributing to matrix teams in global organizations and in supporting project teams to achieve superior results with a focus on business benefit realization and fast business adoption  
  • High learning agility, comfortable with complexity and diversity, and highly interested in continuous improvement.
